The Pig Roast Toddler Fort.

It's cloudy. It's windy. It's chilly. The night sky is creeping up on us earlier and earlier.
Our wood stove is warm and crackly. A bean chowder is simmering on the stove for dinner.
Loud giggling is coming from the kitchen as my girls mix up my great aunt's biscuit recipe.

My boys are outside riding skateboards...
wait, correction, I mean long boards....there's a big difference ya know!
So while I have a minute to myself....I thought I'd throw up a few pictures from our weekend.

It started as a bonfire....s'mores and cake for the nine birthdays not yet celebrated. (yes, I said nine ;)
By the time the weekend rolled around it turned into yet another pig roast at my parent's house.

{the above picture ^^^ is me being a tattle tale...
yep, she painted her nails on my mom's fairly new couch!}

The party wrapped up with green faces and a toddler fort built by my dear husband...aka Uncle Jeff.
I love being part of a big family. So thankful for parents who made that decision.

Happy new week to you.

  1. I love fun, crazy, noisy, family gatherings! I know from personal experience that you (elizabeth) all by yourself are a ton of fun, I can't imagine what being around your whole family would be like :)

PS- I thinks it's rotten of you to post about bean chowder simmering away and NOT include a recipe ;)

  2. It looks like so much fun. Love that you have that big family to party with, and share it with us.

We are having a cozy evening here with a fire in fireplace! Wow, a pig roast. That sounds good. We have been buying pork loin quite often of late, as they have been on sale,AND David wants to eat them...with potatoes and homemade applesauce. Any thing to fatten that man/child.

  3. so fun! and i'm thinking when i look at that pic of your sister painting her nails, " i want her legs!!" ;)) your family is awesome~

  4. Your family just looks like so much fun! I love how you all love each other, and just LIKE being together. :) Not to mention, every single of you is just drop-dead gorgeous!!! :) xoxo

  5. you being a tattle-tale! ohmygoodness i laughed at that one! i would so have done the same thing. ;)
your weekend sounds really lovely. pig roasts evoke so many wonderful memories for me from my childhood. i'm so glad you can all get together and celebrate!
    happy tuesday!

  6. Looks like so much FUN!
You make chilly weather sound so cozy! I will think of that when I start complaining about being cold! :)

  7. Big families are awesome....and yours looks like SO much fun!

  8. Big families are great! I loved mine and try to keep that in mind even while I'm in the stage of a lot of "littles" which can obviously be crazy at times! :) But even the crazy days have super sweet moments, and plenty of laughter to make up for the whining or crying fits sprinkled throughout! Ach, and painting nails red on a new couch? So bad! :)

  9. I have always wanted to go to a pig roast!!! Yummy!!!

  10. Big families are wonderful, David and Grace were saying how thankful they were to be part of seven children....I was telling them that if I only had one or two kids I would have spoiled them waaaaay too much, this way (with 7) I can't possibly spoil any, there's no time or energy! LOL
How many siblings do you have, BTW, I forgot.

  11. Love the closeness of your big family! I come from a family of 6 brothers so I get the big family scene! I moved 24+ hrs away from my crazy big family when I met the love of my life! Never take for granted going over to your parents for pig roasts! :)
