A Little Tribute

Yesterday I took my boys shopping for shoes. The store was chocked full of Christmas!
Songs...Trees...decorations...wrapping paper. {which okay, my heart MAY have skipped a beat!..}
...but whilst I love the Christmas season with all my heart...I'm not ready yet.
I'm not willing to cheat on fall for winter wonderland.
I still want to bask in the season of cinnamon and salty caramel mochas.

I feel bad for November. It often doesn't get the credit it deserves.

November holds the last of the color...trees that scream golden orange and yellow.
November holds pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread and pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin lattes.
November holds the forgotten holiday. Does any store in America recognize Thanksgiving anymore?
November is cozy when the clocks are turned back.
November is the season to be thankful. (sorry pregnant Beth if you read this ;)
November is the month to color pilgrim and turkey pictures.

...and there you have it. My little tribute.
Hope your week is off to a great start.
XxOo

  1. Great tribute! And yes, November, and Thanksgiving are both so warm and wonderful, as well as The ripenes of Fall. Here, what tree turn are all at their best right now. They Sycamores are gold this year, rather than just brown or tan. The Liquid Amber are all blazing...we have had cool enough nights for them to change, and for our down quilt on the bed :)
I do think that it is kind of a good thing that the commercialism passes over Thanksgiving, may be one of the reasons it stays simple...food, family, thanksgiving.

  3. I agree! November is a continuation of all the wonderful things I begin to enjoy in October each year . . . but it holds the extra near & dear to my heart Thanksgiving Day, and like you said, is the grand finale of the great colors and flavors before we change everything up for December! I love your tribute!

  4. YES! It's funny because Christmas is creeping into IG and obviously the stores. I like to hold onto fall a bit longer. But we all know I'm all about the Christmas stuff deep down inside. ;)

I am stopping by your blog tonight via a link up from Shelley's blog, Frame of Mind. XO

  6. I'm with you on this one! I'm giving a "blind eye" to Christmas until after Thanksgiving is over. I want to relish this "thankful" month.
    LOVE the pictures!

  7. I agree. I really do love thanksgiving, I'm just tired of all 700 of my facebook friends posting daily what they're thankful for. What, like they forgot to be thankful the rest of the year?? ha.

    Love the pictures.
And now I want a salted caramel mocha, pretty bad.

  10. Amen Elizabeth! I love fall and Thanksgiving decorations but all the stores go from Halloween (yuck) straight to Christmas!

  11. I could NOT agree more! I was still clinging to swim suits and sunscreen when people were salivating about pumpkin spice lattes and I will be clutching pumpkins in a death grip while the stores roll out the Christmas trees and the red and green! We just rushrushrush and in so doing, we never really appreciate the season or the time we are in. Lovely post, lovely blog!
