What I Have.

It was barely daylight....
..big fat flakes were falling from the sky. He stood in the window forever watching.

He absolutely LOVES the snow...and I absolutely love watching him.
How blessed I am to be here.

What a gift my husband has given be a stay at home mom.
It's something I at times take for granted...something I don't always give much thought to.
...sometimes even complain about it! {cover face in shame}

The other day as I stayed in bed hugging my baby, Jeff was flying around getting ready for work...
I looked at Frankie sleeping and told Jeff thank you.

"For what?" he asked.

"I've never had to wake up and rush to the office.
I've never had to leave my new babies.
I've never had to scramble around getting kids to a babysitter or a nanny.
I am here. Home. I get to see them do new things. I have the privilege of teaching our kids at home.
I have freedom I wouldn't have if I was tied to a job."

He said "Oh whatever" in his modest tone and kissed me goodbye in the dark.

This doesn't come without sacrifice.
Jeff gives a lot of himself for me to stay home.
He works hard. He works long.

I know there are some who do not have the choice to stay home.
I know there are some of you who have husbands who work just as hard as mine and
you have to work too and don't have the choice of staying home.
I also know there are some of you who love your jobs and enjoy working!

This isn't meant to make anyone feel bad or say one way or the other is right....
It's just to say....often times we take the people in our lives and the blessings we have for granted.
{at least I do! Ha!}

Sometimes it takes following a blog like this or reading a story like this
to remind us how much we have and how blessed our lives are.

This weekend Jeff and I are taking a little road trip together...Alone!
We usually spend a weekend down in Chicago at Christmas time,
but this year we're taking things a bit further.

I am super excited, but also very, VERY nervous because I'm leaving Frankie.
I've never left him overnight before. Yikes!

I know he'll be fine...{he's staying with my Parents! Hello being spoiled and loved beyond belief!}'s me I'm worried about! No baby for a few days.

But I'll have Jeff! all to myself!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Love this! So good to see someone content and happy where they're at.

    P.S. You + Jeff are totally role models for me-your marriage inspires me so much!
